Beacon Peaceful School Awards
Beacon Peaceful Schools are pioneers!
What could be more important than working for peace in the world?! Schools can play a massive role in making the world a more peaceful place. And lots of schools are already doing a lot of work on peace – in different ways. Some are further down this path than others. A few are exceptional and they have become ‘Beacon Peaceful Schools’. The pioneers/Beacon Peaceful Schools are described below. Scroll down this page to read about them!
How can my school get a Beacon Award?
Schools get their Beacon Peaceful School Awards from the Peaceful Schools Strategy Group. Following receipt of a Submission Form (see link below) a member of the Group visits and assesses the school on a range of things including the senior leadership’s passion and commitment for creating a peaceful environment with staff and pupils. We look at aspects of what the school is doing in four inter-related areas:
How pupils are helped to develop their ability to connect to their inner peace.
What is being done to enable the development of peaceful relationships in the school.
The whole school ethos – is it peace promoting?
How pupils are being equipped to be peacemakers within the school and in the wider world.
Peace work beyond the school – in the local community and in other areas.
