Substantial bursary available for Learning for Peace training package 2019
Peacemakers have a special offer for our Learning for Peace package for 2019 due to securing some generous funding that means we can offer a much larger than usual bursary for this package. We have enough funding for two schools – but hurry as this special offer is on a first come, first served basis. However, schools who have not received a Peacemakers bursary previously will receive priority.
Our Learning for Peace resource has loads to offer schools to help with building emotional intelligence and conflict resolution skills in children, all the skills and values of peace. It is built around the concept of a spiral curriculum, visiting themes relevant to Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural (SMSC) development from Reception to Year 6. The Learning for Peace package is detailed below but includes both INSETS and modelling the approach in every class in your school, as well as seven copies of our Learning for Peace book.
A teacher at Stoke Primary School in Coventry believes, “this is a fantastic guide which has inspired the staff at Stoke Primary School to become creative with circle time activities. This will support the development of SMSC for every individual in our school therefore moving us in the direction of outstanding within this area. The guide is easy to follow and implement into our everyday timetable.”
To get the best out of using the resource, we have been working with schools to help them embed the ideas into the curriculum. Along with copies of the Learning for Peace book, the package involves hands on planning, training, modelling, mentoring and training.
Package:
Planning – One day or half day. Planning with your SMSC lead to plan regular Peacemakers sessions throughout the school. We make sure that the programme fits in with other school priorities such as Rights Respecting Schools or your existing PSHE planning.
Training – Half day or twilight. Training with the whole staff team to explore the book and the approaches.
Modelling – One lesson with every class. Modelling the approaches with the class teachers.
Mentoring – Mentoring teachers in every class. We join in with one session and give feedback.

Duration – The whole package can take place in half a term or can straddle the half term break.
