Bradford Peace Museum
The history of peace, and the people and organisations who have been active and involved in the peace movement, is an important story to be told. Bradford Peace Museum collects and safeguards artefacts relating to peace and peacemakers for the benefit of all.
Its vision is to be seen as a national resource that educates and inspires people for peace, using a unique collection of artefacts and stories.
The Bradford Peace Museum explores the history and the often untold stories of peace, peacemakers, social reform and peace movements. It occupies three small galleries in one of Bradford’s many fine Victorian buildings. It is unique in that at present it is the only accredited museum of its kind in the UK.
By making these collections accessible, through exhibitions, education, and community programmes, Bradford Peace Museum seeks to demonstrate the importance of this heritage and inspire visitors to consider peacemaking as an active process.
Schools Programme
The objective of its programme of school workshops is to inspire pupils to think about peace and peacemaking. The practical and cross-curricular workshops also include the opportunity for pupils to handle Museum objects. Workshops can be delivered at the Museum or as an Outreach session at your school. Where possible, sessions can be also be adapted for Key Stage 3.
