We the undersigned petition the Council to twin Coventry, the city of peace and reconciliation, with the city of Khan Younis in Gaza.

As residents we are proud that Coventry holds the legacy of being the city of peace and reconciliation. Coventry suffered a brutal bombardment during the Second World War and there is a living memory of what it was like to search for loved ones amongst the ruins and rubble of our homes. This is now heartbreakingly being mirrored in the city of Khan Younis.
Hence, we believe it is only fitting due to our exceptional history that we twin Coventry City with Khan Younis and extend the hope for both peace and reconciliation.
