On 6 July Rethinking Security will be running a Zoom meeting at which communities and individuals across the UK can express their own priorities for security and contribute to the Alternative Security Review run by Rethinking Security.
Governments often define ‘security’ in narrow, military terms. They don’t often ask what the people they represent feel about their security.
Rethinking Security believe that we should all have our say in what makes us feel secure.
Using photography and discussion, Visualising Security allows communities and individuals across the UK to express their own priorities for security and contribute to the ASR.
The aim is to gather security concerns from a wide range of people in an accessible way. Images allow people who might never been asked what is important for their security to represent their own ideas.
Rethinking Security will use the images as part of the Alternative Security Review, bringing people’s stories into the spotlight as we advocate for security based on inclusion, sustainability and equality.
How to take part
Over the course of the project there will be online Zoom sessions for those who want to participate but don’t have a group to work with. These are for you to bring and discuss your own images of (in)security. To take part in this event reserve your place by clicking here.
