RISING Global Peace Forum 2022 will run from 9 to 11 November in Coventry Cathedral.
RISING is a unique three-way partnership between Coventry University (as represented by the Centre for Trust, Peace and Social Relations), the Cathedral and the City Council. It builds on Coventry’s status as the UK’s only City of Peace and Reconciliation and seeks to share ideas and inspiration about what it takes to build and sustain peaceful and secure communities.
This year the theme of the Forum is ‘Digital Peace’, although the breadth of speakers will also be looking at issues in Ukraine, China, Rwanda, Cameroon and in the UK. There will be a live video link interview with Volodymyr Groysman, former Prime Minister of Ukraine, and keynote addresses from
- Lord Peter Hain (former UK Northern Ireland Secretary of State),
- Tom Fletcher (former UK Ambassador to Lebanon),
- Richard Ratcliffe (husband of Nazanin Zaghari Ratcliffe who was detained in Iran for six years),
- David Porter (Chief of Staff to Archbishop Justin Welby at Lambeth Palace) and
the UK’s Director of Twitter Katy Minshall.
In addition, Roger Harrabin, former BBC Environment correspondent, will also be delivering the Lord Mayor’s Peace Lecture which is part of RISING. Book your place at this lecture at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/can-technology-curb-climate-change-peace-lecture-tickets-425636378867
