Report on Coventry Young People’s Peace and Reconciliation Conference 2019
The Conference attracted 56 adult peace activists and 58 young people aged 10-14.
The conference was organised by Coventry Lord Mayor’s Committee for Peace and Reconciliation and run by PeaceMakers from Birmingham. It consisted of delegates answering three questions:
- What does a peaceful community/school look and feel like to you?
- What is already happening in your community/school that is helping to develop peace?
- What is missing? What else would you like to see to make peace even stronger?
A large number of answers were written down by the delegates (as recorded on this page) and the Committee are now working with Coventry Schools Peace Forum to analyse the data collected, work out what projects we can support and begin to raise money to enable young people to run projects to promote peace and security in their schools.
For feedback by the adults present, see here.
The event was generously funded by a grant from the National Lottery Community Fund.
