At the invitation of the Mayor of Dresden, students and staff from Cardinal Newman Catholic School as well as the Lord Mayor of Coventry travelled to Germany on 11 February to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the city’s twinning with Coventry.

The students had a very packed agenda for the week including: spending time with students and staff from their link school, Friedrich Schiller 62nd School; attending an official remembrance service in the Town Hall commemorating the date the twinning was signed in 1959; and remembering the date of the first bombing of Dresden in 1945 at the end of the second world war.

The students and staff worked incredibly hard throughout the week and were excellent ambassadors for Coventry as well as their school.
