Lighting up North Coventry Parks this Autumn!
A group of ambitious individuals have come together to light up North Coventry’s parks in celebrations to be held in Foleshill this on 14 and 15 October.
“Friends of Foleshill” are a community group actively dedicated to bringing the residents of Foleshill and the surrounding areas together and through a two day extravaganza named “Foleshill Festival of Lights” the community will come together to celebrate all faiths and diversities with spectacular displays of dance, music, arts and entertainment.
Kicking off on Saturday 14th October the Community of Lights event being held in Edgwick Park 12pm-6pm, will feature a celebration of arts, culture, performance, music, food and dance, and a selection of stalls to keep the whole family entertained.
Throughout the day, communities and schools involved in the Festival of Lights will be showcasing their artwork. Special performances will include the Godiva Sisters wearing their traditional costumes, hero’s from around the world, Chinese Fan Dancers, Irish dancers, BTA African girls dance, African drumming with Cultural Contractors, Polish choir Senza Nome, Ukrainian dancers, music and singers, World Song & Forte Gospel choirs, School choirs, The Notables, Sabrina Indian Soloist, Mama Jay Reggae, storytellers and musicians from the Imagination Reading Café. There will also be an opportunity to sample foods from our International Food stalls.

“Our wonderful embracing inclusive “Community of Lights” will be a fantastic opportunity for the residents of Foleshill and surrounding areas to come together, celebrate diversity and enjoy a great day out. From noon till dusk there will be non-stop fusion of arts, music, dance, performances, stalls and food. Special performances will include the Godiva Sisters wearing their traditional costumes, hero’s from around the world, Chinese Fan Dancers, Irish dancers, African drumming with Cultural Contractors, Polish choir Senza Nome, World Song & Forte Gospel choirs, storytellers and musicians from the Imagination Reading Café. Local schools and community groups, will showcase a beautiful parade of lights, handmade lanterns and puppets with a closing procession around the park. Our Communities of Light Event is about inclusiveness, with all people young and old, families of all cultures and faiths presenting their idea of light. “Enlightenment for All, lighting up our park, lighting up our lives” so it really will be a family fun filled day out!”
