On Saturday 17th June, which is during the Leamington Peace Festival, the group “Justice for Palestinians” are hosting a talk by Michael Mansfield, the leading human rights lawyer who is an outspoken supporter of Palestinian rights and recently defended Ken Livingstone against charges of anti-semitism that led to his suspension from the Labour Party.
The talk is entitled – Two Sides of Conflict – Personal and Political. A new perspective on Palestine.
Michael Mansfield founded Silence of Suicide together with his partner Yvette Greenway, shortly after his daughter took her own life. In his talk he will explore the links between personal conflict and political conflict. Both can lead to death whether though suicide or unlawful killing. Both require greater understanding and discourse.
Justice for Palestinians, will also have a stall at the Peace Festival. This year it is 100 years since the Balfour Declaration and so this will feature on the stall along with explanations of how the implementation has resulted in the current Israeli/Palestinian situation.
The talk will take place in All Saints Church, Victoria Terrace, CV31 1AA at 18:30. This is very close to the Peace Festival Ground.
Admission is free and complimentary soft drinks will be offered.
