On 10 November there will a showing of a celebrated and award-winning film “The Man Who Built Peace” followed by a discussion with the producer and director of the film.
The Man Who Built Peace is a new documentary which shows how Frank Buchman’s message inspired a worldwide movement of changemakers in conflict resolution, peacebuilding and social cohesion, which is profoundly relevant today.
It all begins with the question: How do we restore trust and bridge divides in a world of increasing uncertainty?
Many of the world’s problems – and their solutions – are rooted in human nature. Greed and indifference lead to injustice, poverty, conflict and environmental destruction. Yet it is also in human nature to be caring, courageous and creative.
The advent of an uncertain social and political landscape in Europe, which we see returning today, creates a need for Buchman’s unique approach in peacebuilding. Join Coventry Lord Mayor’s Committee for Peace and Reconciliation in this showing of The Man Who Built Peace and representatives from Initiatives of Change who produced the film to learn about the transformative power within every one of us.
Frank Buchman was a thinker and leader whose trust-building and peace efforts influenced the 20th century. He advocated transforming society through changes in human motives and behaviour, starting with himself. By inspiring honesty, cooperation and friendship amongst people and nations he helped to bring individuals, communities, industry and countries together in order to overcome the barriers that prevented them moving forward.
