Work with somebody of a different background. One records a short video on their phone while the other explains what peace means to him or her.
Send us your videos to celebrate Coventry Peace Day, 21 September 2016, which is also International Day of Peace. We will publish them on this website and include the best ones in our Online Peace Concert!
You don’t have to wait until CovPeaceDay to record them! And you don’t have to live in Coventry. Anyone anywhere can send us a video. Do it now! Tell us what comes into your mind when you hear the word “Peace”. See below for how to send it to us. Thank you!
Note if you want your video sent to the United Nations it must reach us before 1 September. See below for details.

What to do
Recording your Video
To be able to send us your video by email, you will need to set the quality of phone’s video camera to the lowest possible before you record your video. Otherwise it will be too big to be sent via email! Go into the camera settings, select the camera you are going to use and pick the lowest value available.
Then record a video talking about peace. For example you could answer one of the following questions:
- What does the word “peace” mean to you?
- How can we make the world a safer place?
- What is the greatest threat to world peace today?
Or you could
- sing a short song
- say a poem
- or even just show a peaceful scene.
All videos must be appropriate for viewing by younger audiences.

Sending to United Nations
We can also pass on your video to the United Nations, provided:
- Your video is no more than 15 seconds long
- You are aged between 15 and 24
- You state your name(s) and country(ies)
- You send it to us before 1 September
- You talk about how the Sustainable Development Goals can build peace. For example explain why ending poverty or reducing climate change or improving equality or ensuring access to education can help create a more peaceful world.
The most engaging videos will be featured on the United Nations International Day of Peace YouTube channel. Some will even be shown at an official event at United Nations Headquarters in New York on 16 September.
