This committee of 20 peace-activists works to promote the city’s agenda as a city of peace and reconciliation both within Coventry and more widely.
It is a representative committee and includes people from a variety of organisations in the city who support its aims.

A planning working group will begin work in February to plan the activities of the Committee over the coming months and years.

Anniversary Statue of Reconciliation Coventry Cathedral led by Irish Society.
Hiroshima Day 6th August 2017
Chapel of Unity and Coventry Cathedral on Sunday 6th August at 6pm. Hiroshima Day 2017 was led by Dean John Witcombe Coventry Cathedral and Ruth Longoni made a key speech. We welcomed Councillor John Blundell deputy Lord Mayor of Coventry and Minster Mikanagi Embassy of Japan. 100 people attended the service. Official reception 4pm St Michaels House. Sadako read by Sonia Sandhu, Eleanor Douglas, Pardeep Sondhi, Delani Jayaratnam and Amritt Natt of Cardinal Newman Catholic School. Coventry and Hiroshima Poet Antony Owen read “The last ticket collector of Nagasaki” from his forthcoming publication.

RISING 16 is a partnership between Coventry City Council, Coventry University and Coventry Cathedral.
Peace Trail – interactive map – Carol and Andrew have worked with Lee House and communications colleagues to produce 500 copies. Very attractive. Many Congratulations with distribution including consultation with Jane Barlow Lord Mayor’s principal secretary about storage, further copies. Philip has produced an electronic version available on the web. Widespread appreciation of the Peace Trail content.
Peace Philanthropists Exhibition message from Dr van den Dungan October 2016- The peace philanthropy exhibition was shown in two conferences, ten days in Berlin and the annual general meeting of Abolition 2000, the international network for abolition of nuclear weapons. Dr Van den Dungam – very grateful to Coventry Lord Mayor’s Peace Committee for having made the poster version, and for making it available to us for use.
